Cypher Vesta Sport Quickdraw Review

This review is of the Cypher Vesta Sport Quickdraw, which is a redesign of the original Vesta draw.  The dogbone is totally different and a huge improvement.  It’s super stiff and perfect for hard sport climbing.  You can get the Vesta Sport with a straight gate or wire gate rope end, but I prefer the wire gate.

I received the draws from Liberty Mountain and Cypher Climbing for…

Bridge Day 2016

Bridge Day at the New River Gorge is a great event where it’s legal for BASE jumpers to hurl themselves off the bridge for only one day a year.  This year, during the Bridge Day weekend, I climbed at Summersville Lake and Beauty…

Two Ogres Chalkzilla Review

In this video, I review the Two Ogres Chalkzilla chalk bucket. This chalk bucket has an excellent closing system, a little front pocket, and two big grab handles. The fleece interior keeps chalk dust at bay and the Chalkzilla is made in the USA!

I received the chalk bucket from Two Ogres for review, but don’t worry, you can’t buy my…

Two Ogres Swaddle Case Review

In this video, I review the Two Ogres Swaddle Case for the GoPro camera.  This minimalist case is the only case you really need in my opinion.  Large cases just take up room and they never hold exactly what you need.  Plus that stuff is durable anyhow!  You just need to protect the camera if running it naked, or the lens when using the housing.  Try this one out!

I received the cas…

Back to the Red

It had been years since our last trip to the Red River Gorge.  It was great to get back over Memorial Day weekend and get pumped on steep Kentucky sandstone!  It was super hot and humid but we missed this place and can’t wait to get…

Outdoor Research Foray Review

In this video review, I take a look at the Outdoor Research Foray jacket.  This ultralight Gore Tex Paclite rain shell will keep you dry during those summer rainstorms but won’t weight you down.  It’s got lots of innovative features such as a poncho style opening that allow you to fully vent if you get a bit warm.  To me, this is an ideal three season rain jacket.

I received t…

Rain and Sun

One day it’s sunny and perfect, the next it’s raining.  That’s the name of the game during the Spring in West Virginia.  Despite some unpredictable weather, we still got three days of great climbing in!  Check out my latest video on my favorite climbing area, the New River…

Two Ogres Basique v2 Review

In this video review, I look at the Two Ogres Basique v2 chalk bag. This is the second edition of the original Basique and it has many improvements! The material is super durable and doesn’t show wear. The closure system is updated and really keeps the chalk dust at bay. Also included is a small zipper pocket, brush holder, and very functional belt.

I received the chalk bag from Two Ogres…

It’s Been A While

It’s been quite a while since our last climbing trip!  Real life has got in the way but we managed to squeeze in a day at Coopers Rock, WV for some fun in the sun.  My climbing performance was a bit frustrating, but you can’t really complain about any day on t…

Outdoor Research Whirlwind Hoody Review

In this video review, I take a look at the Outdoor Research Whirlwind Hoody.  This ultralight, three season piece is a perfect companion anytime you venture outdoors.  The stretchy, wind resistant, water resistant fabric will shed off light summer storms and wind, but keep you cool at the same time during higher output activities.  The minimalist hood and chest pocket are perfect features…
