Beat Down and Love It

This past weekend, the beat down at the New was memorable.  But I have to say, I’ve never had so much fun getting crushed!  Our weekend started with a drive down Saturday morning.  The Fall temps were almost in full swing and the air was crisp.  I planned to hit up Summersville Lake, meeting a couple friends out there.  Unfortunately my favorite belayer had work that had to get done in…

Junkyard Fun

It’s September, it’s Fall, it’s send temps right??  Wrong!  This past weekend at the New River Gorge was still a bit warm for “Sendtember”, but regardless, we still had a blast.  We drove down Saturday morning with every intention of hiking in to Beauty Mountain.  We both have some routes we wanted to climb out there.  But a late start getting on the road, combined with what felt…

Misty Mountain Turbo Harness Review

In this video, I review the outstanding Misty Mountain Turbo harness.  Misty Mountain, based out of Western North Carolina, makes high quality soft goods right here in the USA.  If you prefer adjustable leg loops, check out the Sonic harness.  For the ladies, they have the Silhouette, which is the female Sonic.  A female Turbo doesn’t exist by name, but just ask for it and Misty w…

One Move Shutdown

A couple weeks ago, we made our second trip of the Fall 2013 season.  I personally was hoping for a better performance after the previous weekend of brushing the rust off.  Saturday morning, we drove straight down to The Other Place.  I had my sights set on working the moves out on Low Brow, and hopefully scoring a redpoint on another climb that has eluded me for quite a while.

Rosetta…

Brushing the Rust Off

It had been over a month and a half and we were antsy to get back down to our second home, the New River Gorge.  This past weekend, we set off, in hopes to start our Fall season right.  We ended Spring with the stoke high.  I had just climbed my first 5.12 and Gaelyn completed the Warrior’s Way Fall/Commit Clinic, breaking down mental barriers that were caused by fear of falling.  The weather…

Misty Mountain Fashion Chalk Bag Review

In this video, I review the super stylish Misty Mountain Fashion Chalk Bag.  Misty Mountain, based out of Western North Carolina, makes high quality soft goods right here in the USA.  They offer 20-30 fabric choices for their Fashion Chalk Bag.  If the Fashion is a bit too big for you, they also offer the Mini Fashion Chalk Bag.  Be sure to check out Misty and give them a “like” on…

Grand Trunk Double Hammock Review

Thanks to Grand Trunk, I got the chance to review their sweet Double Hammock.  Simple, lightweight, but effective is what I think of when relaxing in this hammock.  The parachute nylon keeps the weight down, and the simple but brilliant strap system allows you to easily set this hammock up between two trees.  I also give a little crag hammock etiquette at the end of the video.  Be sure to…

National Hammock Day Coming Soon

National Hammock Day is coming up soon, troche and I will be reviewing a Grand Trunk Goods hammock in the next few days.  Enter the contest and win a hammock her…

Velcro Climbing Shoe Armor

In this video, I give you a little tip that can really prolong the life of straps on velcro climbing shoes.  I blew out the straps on a pair of shoes before I even needed a resole.  This got me thinking, I need ARMOR!!  Check out the video then buy some ARMOR and support t…

My First 5.12

Well, it finally happened.  I’ve worked harder this Spring than in years past and on my tenth trip to the New River Gorge this season, I redpointed my first 5.12!  What was funny, is that it was unexpected and came quite quickly.  Gaelyn was taking the Warrior’s Way Falling Clinic, so Chris and I headed out to Fern Butress to enjoy a early Summer day.  The sun was shining, and the crag was…
